Best of Greenhouse Studio 2021

2021 was a remarkable year in a lot of ways. This was the second year that I had the opportunity to review the most viewed posts from the previous year. Some of them amuse me and some don't, which contributes to the enjoyment of this article while also providing me with suggestions for my areas of concentration for the upcoming year.

Since I launched Scaled Up Studio, a second website, late last summer, as many of you are aware, I want to be extra sure that the content I generate for Greenhouse Studio is what you all want to see, and this little end-of-year ritual helps. As always, please leave a remark if you have any ideas.

Without further ado, here is the Greenhouse Studio 2021 top 10 list of DIY projects, houseplants, and design inspiration.

10 | Natural Home Décor Styling

The post that best demonstrates "my style" is this one. I worked incredibly hard to include as many concepts as possible on achieving a neutral and natural aesthetic in your house into this essay. There are several ways to get this effect without using any living, genuine, or green (plants) and none of them require watering anything.

9 | Styling With African Beads

I had a great deal of fun writing this article. It was enjoyable to revisit images from a vacation to Morocco, decorate my living room, and then take pictures.

Even though this piece was only published at the end of October, the Google gods quickly ranked it highly. I'm interested to see how this trend in home decor develops further. Check it out if you're looking for some new springtime design ideas.

8 | Nature-Inspired Home Office Reveal

My indoor epidemic experiment took place at my home office. (My outside undertaking was a redesign of my garden.) I'm thrilled with how my modestly-funded home office renovation came out. However, I won't deny that writing this piece nearly drove me insane. Let's just say that the camera and I did not get along, but of course, I picked up some valuable knowledge in the process.

If you enjoy the design aesthetic of 10 | Natural Home Décor Styling, you'll enjoy this post and find some inspiration for your own workspace.

7 | How To Waterproof Your Plant Pots

One of those strange "Tina-isms," as my sister may say, that I invented a whole lotta years ago is my "technique" for water-proofing the bottoms of my plant pots. But guess what? It actually works.

If you do that, you won't ever again leave a wet mark on your favourite wood table. You prefer video? Here is a link to YouTube.

6 | Caring For Monstera [Soil, Watering, Repotting, Fertilizing]

Fans of Monstera, unite! (Also, who isn't?) This article serves as a comprehensive care manual for Monstera deliciosa.

Furthermore, I discuss how to distinguish them from Split Leaf Philodendrons and those amazing fenestrated leaves that come in both juvenile and mature versions.

When I eventually give my Trader Joe's Monstera a new home, the video discusses Monstera repotting.

5 | Black and White Bathroom Mood Board

I adore a traditional black-and-white bathroom! Check out my inspiration board for my next hall bathroom remodel, which will have gorgeous black and white tile, cabinets and trim along with seductive metal fixtures. (Is it odd that I want to use this approach in all of the home's baths? It is what I'm calling "cohesive design!"

4 | Travertine Furniture & Accessories - 80s Trend Reinvented

I think I like stone furnishings better than black and white bathrooms. Because of its resilience and neutral, natural look (no competing wood tones), travertine and other natural stone are excellent building materials. It was extremely well-liked in the 1980s, and it's now returning. See the post to learn the cause of the stylish commotion.

3 | Mediterranean Landscape Design Mood Board

Is it little hurtful to me that my mood board for a Mediterranean garden design received more attention than my real landscape design reveal? Ha. The majority of the traffic to this post came from Pinterest, which was completely unplanned. Collecting all of those lovely pictures wasn't difficult. Take a peek and get some ideas for your personal garden's landscape design from California.

2 | Dark Green Kitchens

This message also shocked me, but it appears that dark green kitchens have enchanted many of us. Keep checking back because I'm going to add some brand-new, lovely green photos to this one as well.

1 | Fiddle Leaf Fig Repotting

This article had the highest traffic by far. You guys can't stop talking about your FLFs! See the blog entry and YouTube video on how I replanted Mrs. Figg, a fiddle leaf that quickly developed into a gangly, 8-foot sapling in the corner (much like my three boys). She really needed a new home, and I made sure to film everything for you.

So that’s a wrap and we’ve already put our toe in 2022. What are your plans and projects for the new year? Leave me a comment below and let me know.
